Hello hello!

This morning was pretty fab. Woke up at the crack of dawn (not fun) and headed to my company’s gym for a 30 min run on the treadmill. Usually, I’m pretty sleepy when I start running so I don’t REALLY push myself. Don’t get me wrong, I usually run about 3 miles every morning and I definitely sweat, but today was different. There was a hardcore runner on the treadmill next to me — I’ve never seen her before — and she was booking it on the treadmill while wearing just a sports bra. She was incredibly fit and it motivated me. So I did the following:

0-2      4.0mph

2-12             6.6

12-22            6.8

22-24             7.0

24-26             7.5

26-28             7.0

28-30           7.5

30-32           7.0

32-35           4.0

Ended up running (mins 2-32) 3.5 miles in 30 minutes which is around an 8:35 average pace. It felt awesome and it woke me up a lot faster than normal. Didn’t even need to drink coffee today!

Work was a little hectic so I was glad to finally get home around 7:30. Finished off today with a yummy dinner and a little ab work — 50 crunches, 50 right oblique crunches, 50 left oblique crunches, 50 leg lifts — and 20 push ups.

So I realized that I’ve posted a TON about the “running feet” part of the blog, but not the “sweets” or the “beats”! I love love LOVE baking and making sweets for the people I love, but I’ve had no time lately (except for Halloween.. I made puppy chow for a party!). Soooo…. on to the beats!

Although I don’t listen to music when I run, there are a ton of songs that I listen to during my commute to pump me up and get me ready for my workout. I also rock the ipod if I decide to do the elliptical, ab work, etc. Here are some of my (current) absolute faves:

1. Downtown Fiction – “I Just Wanna Run”

This is THE best at getting me ready for a run. Before my first 1/2 marathon, I think I played this on repeat 20 times haha. In fact, I’m so obsessed with this song that my fiance got me a medal rack with that says “I just wanna run” on it :).  But all of The Downtown Fiction’s songs are great for workouts or runs. So good!

2. Breathe Caroline – “Hello Fascination”

One of the best times Michelle and I had at a concert was dancing around to this song at Warped Tour (or Bamboozle.. I always get them confused!). This song always gets me going.

3. The Years Gone By – “This Time, It’s Our Time”

This band is seriously amazing. I found them a few years ago on Myspace (so old school) and have been following them ever since. They technically broke up, but they’re playing a final show Dec 16 — you know I’ll be there! All of their songs can be found in my top played :). Check them out!

4. 3OH!3 – “Starstrukk”

When I was living in Hoboken, I used to go to NYSC when it opened and steal an exercise room all to myself. And I would BLAST 3Oh!3 on the speakers. Definite bonus to being awake before everyone else! They got me through the toughest self-inflicted circuit workouts.

A few more to check out (I can share :)):

Family Force 5 – “Earthquake”

Youngbloodz – “I’mma Shine” (random, from Step Up soundtrack)

Kanye West – “The New Workout Plan”

The Rocket Summer – “Break It Out”

Hit The Lights – “Make a Run for It”

Panic! At the Disco – “Time to Dance”

And about a million other songs that I can’t get enough of!! I would share more, but it’s definitely bed time. Goodnight!
